  • Alcohol- containing ethanol. exp.(vodka, beer, or wine)
  • Amphetamines-referred to as speed, a stimulant that works on the central nervous system, prescribed for hyperactive kids and appetite suppressant. exp.(adderall, dexedrine,methamphetamines)
  • Barbiturates-a derivative of babituric acid that depresses the central nervous system used to treat sleeping disorders such as insomnia. exp.(amobarbital, phenobarbital)
  • Benzodiazepine-calming stress reducer used for patients with anxiety. exp.(diazepam,chlordiazepoxide)
  • Buprenorphine-used to eliminate the need and addiction to opiates
  • Cannabinoids-used as a pain suppressant, exp. (THC, marijuana)
  • Cocaine-from the coca leaf used illicitly for its euphoric effects.
  • Methadone-used to eliminate the need and addiction to opiates
  • Opiates-a narcotic used for pain relief. exp.(heroin, oxycodone, morphine)
  • Propoxyphene-a pain suppressant structurally similar to methadone, but less addicting.
